April 30, 2025

Due to a recent review of feedstock supply movement data, Vanguard Renewables today announced that it has decided to withdraw from the development of its renewable natural gas (RNG) project in West Jefferson, Ohio at Kevin Summers Farm.

“While we remain committed to advancing RNG and domestically produced energy solutions in Ohio, we have re-evaluated the optimal structure to best serve our customers’ food waste disposal needs,” stated Michael O’Laughlin, Chief Executive Officer, Vanguard Renewables. “We appreciate the interest and feedback, and we look forward to bringing local job creation and infrastructure development opportunities to other areas of the state.”

Vanguard Renewables reaffirms its commitment to fostering a pathway to keep food waste out of landfills and is dedicated to recycling that into a domestically produced energy source within the state. The Company will be breaking ground on two projects in Ohio this summer and is looking forward to continued collaboration with state officials and industry partners to bring new economic opportunities, infrastructure, and jobs to the state in the coming years.
