Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Biogas Operator performs skilled work that is necessary in operating an anaerobic digester, gas conditioning skid, associated digester and upgrader plant equipment. The facility is composed of a digester, pumps, gas blowers, compressors, oxygen generators, condensers, chillers, and related auxiliary equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to, and has full working knowledge of, the company safety program. Will have limited oversight responsibility for outside maintenance contractors to ensure that they are working in a safe manner. Communicates with all personnel to stress the importance of a safe work environment. Required to isolate equipment following proper Lock-out Tag-Out procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports the plant safety, health, and environmental programs in all activities. Contributes to incident investigations to reduce recurrence of accidents/incidents.
  • Supports and promotes the philosophy of maintaining an accident/incident free workplace.
  • Assist and support outside contractors with maintenance onsite maintenance such as media change-outs, large equipment overhauls, and vacuum removal of solids from digesters.
  • Monitor gas production of anaerobic digesters with a focus on O2 and H2S concentration.
  • Complete daily rounds of plant equipment and capture fluid temps, pressures, oil levels, gas concentrations, process flows. Vanguard Renewables is seeking a Chemical, Environmental, or Biosystems Engineer to join our rapidly expanding operations team. This will support the technical operations team to optimize feedstock blends, digester performance, and gas production for fully operational digesters.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors chemical and biological KPIs for fleet of anaerobic digesters and makes recommendations for operational improvement
  • Helps identify and execute operational strategies for optimization of plant operations and RNG production

The Lab Technician processes and tests organic waste material and assesses documents and findings to support the operation of the Company’s anaerobic digester facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Receives, labels, and analyzes a variety of food waste samples from 6-7 locations in a field laboratory setting.
  • Utilizes a benchtop spectrophotometer and moisture balancer to carry out basic analysis, including COD, Total Solids, TKN, Total Organic Carbon, Sulfide Content, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Work locations are industrial, indoor and outdoors.
  • Limited exposure to hazardous materials and/or toxic fumes will require the use of approved personal protective equipment. Regular exposure to heat, noise, flammable materials, rotating equipment, and other conditions normally encountered in an industrial environment should be expected.

Project Development

Vanguard Renewables seeks a Development Associate to support development finance and project management initiatives. Reporting to the Development Manager and VP of Development, the Development Associate will be engaged in tasks ranging from financial analysis on potential and existing development projects to construction and permitting support.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain complex acquisition and development models for all projects
  • Collect and integrate project data and underwriting assumptions, including construction cash flow requirements, operating income and expense projections and financing assumptions for project proformas
  • Maintain project budgets and schedules and report on variances
  • Prepare reports for senior management on development progress and critical decision points
  • Assist in origination, underwriting and due diligence of acquisition and investment transactions
  • Assist in management of the development process and interact with venture partner(s) representatives regarding specific project issues.
  • Participate in a variety of aspects related to the financing, permitting and programming of digester development projects.
  • During all phases of a project, work closely with the Development Manager and other development team members, including accounting, to assist both in the approval of invoices and the development of projected financial summaries.
  • Attend weekly team meetings to detail project progress and outline critical issues
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on submittals to banking institutions and capital partners for procurement of loans and financing
  • Assist in the preparation and ongoing execution of the national business plan for development projects
  • Assist Development team in communication with and submittals to governmental jurisdictions on entitlement and zoning-related matters
  • Support the development team on current initiatives and new business development
  • Work closely with investment team and outside capital partners
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports, each customized for leadership and investors
  • Other duties as required, including frequent travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a related field
  • Comprehensive understanding of real estate development deal structure and lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail

Vanguard Renewables seeks a Development Manager to be a leader in several states or metropolitan areas executing projects from siting through to construction completion. The Development Manager reports to the Vice President of Development and the Director of Development.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all development projects and related functions and activities
  • Ensure project activities comply with company and contract requirements
  • Oversight of day-to-day permitting
  • Negotiate definitive agreements and other project related contracts
  • Manage all due diligence requirements including preliminary engineering, manure sampling, operating costs, geotech reports, environmental reports, surveys, etc.
  • Develop, implement and administer project procedures, budgets and other work controlling documents, including designs, submittals, and schedules,
  • Represent company, project and/or department during investor, client and project management meetings
  • Maintain development models for each project, including sources & uses of capital and profit & loss projections
  • Interface with all company departments as required to resolve problems, ensure quality of engineering and construction, etc. in support of overall project schedule including coordination of field scheduling
  • Serve as a mentor to Analysts and Development Associates
  • Other duties as may be required and frequent travel is required

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a related field
  • Ability to travel 75% or more of the time.
